In what no one can really call a surprise move, given Roman Abramovich's past history with managers, Big Phil is already seeking new employment.
He took a very strong Chelsea side, who were two games away from achieving what we did last season, and has single-handedly destroyed team spirit and ruined that knack of winning that Chelsea had built up.
One can only assume the successor is already known in theory, although a firing at this stage gives Chelsea a couple of weeks to find a replacement as surely the FA Cup game at the weekend will be a formality for Chelsea.
Add these to your tick list, Roman:
1. Has managed a club team in Europe
Actually, that's about it for now, anyone with that experience could surely have guided a squad such as Chelsea's to loftier peaks at this stage of the season.
Already I've seen a Zola/Clarke combination mentioned... that's so utterly laughable, the top teams would piss themselves laughing should that happen.
At this stage my money's on Hiddink...
Off The Rails...

What a difference a couple of weeks can make in the world of football.
After dispatching Fulham with ease in the F.A. Cup, things couldn't have
looked brig...

It won't be Zola, not yet. I do think he will be Chelsea manager at some point though.
This was a really shocking move by Chelsea in my opinion. Surely they would have been better sticking with him until the end of the season, and then they'd have an easier task of getting a new manager.
As it is, their team is going to have to adapt to a new style of playing, training etc under a new manager, at a stage in the season where you just want your team to be grinding out the results they need.
The new manager will be left with a lot of deadwood from the current chelsea setup anyway, Drogba, Malouda and Mikel to name but 3.
For now I think they could do a lot worse than assume their style of last year. And don't let too many Chelsea fans read that about Mikel. They seem convinced he's good enough.
Mikel is nowhere near good enough in my eyes. To me, United were lucky they missed out on him.
Chelsea's next appointment will be interesting. I pretty sure Abramovich wants a manager that's going to win him everything. I fear (well I don't fear) it's too late for them this season. A new manager is going to take a while to get the team sorted out.
It will be interesting to see the Drogba situation with any new manager anyhow.
Looks like Hiddink then.
Feel free to add my blog to your list. I have put yours on mine ;)
